Clark – Civilians
Clark released “Civilians” today, the first music video from his upcoming album Steep Stims, dropping November 7th on Throttle Records. The album comes out on gatefold double vinyl, CD, and streaming.
Melanie Lane and Corps Conspirators choreographed and directed the video, with Non Studio handling camera and production. Seven dancers perform: Yolanda Lowatta, Rachel Coulson, Tyrel Dulvarie, Katherine Lanterna, Te Francesca, Sam Osborn, and Max Burgess. The video opens with gyrating gelatin as a source of movement inspiration, before the dancers become increasingly wild.
Clark describes “Civilians” as probably the least serious piece of music he’s ever made, at least from Steep Stims. He says he treated the mixing like it was “the most important event in human history” with numerous versions, but then realised “oh, it’s just a beat, and bass line with some flute synthesis on top of it.” Still, he found it enjoyable to make.
